Make Linux use 'Local' time

Fedora

To make your Fedora system read the hardware clock as 'local'

1. su

2. system-config-time
check out List box System clock uses UTC
3. system-config-date
check out List box System clock uses UTC

Ubuntu

To make your Ubuntu system read the hardware clock as 'local'

  1. edit /etc/default/rcS
  2. add or change the following section
    # Set UTC=yes if your system clock is set to UTC (GMT) UTC=no
